Why study in the UAO CEU?

1. Specialisation, differentiation and professional projection

The current increase in the technical and physical level of athletes and the development of competition rules in sport has meant that, in many occasions, the real differences consist in psychological aspects related to attitude, awareness, thoughts, emotions... in short, to the behaviour of leading figures in the sports world.

Incorporating behavioural professionals, who add value with their experience and knowledge, methods, techniques and tools in Sports Psychology and Coaching is undoubtedly what the sports world needs in the 21st century, in order to drive and channel the potential of athletes, trainers, teams and sports organisations. Practising Psychology and Sport Coaching consists of the structured accompaniment, provided by an accredited expert, to develop the potential and performances of athletes, coaches, referees, teams and sport organisations.

This is a postgraduate designed by the UAO CEU together with COPC, that emphasises the acquisition of experience through the direct visual perception of recognised professionals.

Also, it has a close relationship with important sport federations and associations, as well as clubs and foundations actively involved with the training of this postgraduate.

The average work placement rate is 95% in the postgraduate studies of the CEU.

6. Information resources

The Library Service is conceived as a support unit for study and research. Its most important objective is to meet the educative and scientific demands. It has convenient opening hours, including weekends, with the best computer equipment. In addition, the UAO CEU offers to all the University community a vast digital storage, with free access to its publications from its docent, research or institutional activities carried out by teachers, students or former students from the University.

 

Study Plan

Module 1. Basics of Psychology and Sports Coaching (63 hours / 7 ECTS)

  • Psychology applied to Sports: Basics of behaviour in sports, evolution of the sports psychology and current situation.
  • Context and activity scenarios in sports.
  • Multidisciplinary approach from the Sports and Health Sciences.
  • Coaching applies to Sports. Main schools of thought: European, North American, ontological South American, and Anglo-Saxon approaches. Theoretical-practical principles of every approach and professional models.
  • The role of the sports psychologist: professional goals, service areas and required competences profile.
  • The role of the sports coach: professional goals, service areas and ICF competences profile.
  • How to work in an integrative way from the psychology knowledge and the intervention format of the coaching to the benefit of the athletes.
  • Methodologies to work and train the individualised sports performance: behavioural approaches, cognitive strategies, applied emotional intelligence, biopsycoemotional models, integrative coaching processes and development mentoring.
  • Methodologies to encourage and promote the key processes in groups and teams. 

Module 2. Work scenarios and contexts (27 hours / 3 ECTS)

  • Working with sports leaders: coach accompaniment programmes.
  • The role of the expert in sports behaviour integrated in sports organisation: club structures, autonomic and/or national federations, referee organisations, school boards.
  • The athlete in context: development stages, psycho-emotional balance and evolutionary maturation, technical and personal progression.
  • Design and making of accompaniment programmes for referees.

Module 3. Working in the sports at a grass root level, training and pools of young players (45 hours / 5 ECTS)

  • Training stages: Work principles and methodology with young athletes.
  • Coaching and mentoring applications in training ages.
  • Differential factors of individual sports: Tennis, golf, athletics, swimming, cycling.
  • Differential factors of team sports: football, basketball, handball, volleyball.

Module 4. High performance Sports: techniques, intervention tools and methods from Psychology and Sports Coaching (63 hours / 7 ECTS)

  • Game variables in the High Performance framework.
  • General and specific factors of success of every sport speciality.
  • Work techniques and approaches in relation to: performance improvement, anxiety and stress management, attention-focusing, motivation, reprocess of negative or blocking experiences.
  • Methodologies and experiences of interventions in individual sports: Tennis, golf, athletics, cycling.
  • Intervention methodologies and experiences in team sports: football, basketball, handball, volleyball.
  • Application of the different work methods in the supervision of practical cases.

Final Project (8 ECTS)

  • It gives credit of the learning and integration of the training and acquisition of the programme competences.
  • This project begins after the completion of module 1 and is presented to finalise the postgraduate.

Tuition fees correspond, solely and exclusively, to the provision of teaching as part of the programme enrolled on, and this is the only service offered in exchange for the payment of those fees. By enrolling, the student accepts that decisions made by the competent authorities may, directly or indirectly, render it necessary to carry out teaching, tutoring, work placements or assessment tests either in person or via distance learning.

The student accepts that they remain obliged to pay any such fees in full even if, for reasons beyond the control of the University, some of the educational activities included in the degree cannot be carried out as initially provided for in the course guides at the beginning of the academic year. If restrictions are part in place, the University will provide the student with a guarantee that the activity will be rescheduled when possible, taking into consideration the interests of the student and any other applicable academic criteria.

This method involves a 5% discount on the enrolment fees.

Instalment payment

50% at the time of enrolment and 50% in January.

Monthly payment

10 instalments with special financing at 0% interest with Banc Sabadell (Check opening charges).
